The iterative alignment has a few benefits of maintaining the CAD coordinate system, and also can automatically loop the alignment features in order to place the points at the desired location.
This probably requires additional explanation, but the Idea Center is really a place for submitting and voting on new feature requests so it's not well suited for questions on current tools.
