To see a preview of the programs file path by hovering over the menu item for the preview and file path appear in a large tile.

Here is another example from Acrobat Reader recent file list.
This list will show a shorten file path and file.

Sorry, I misinterpreted Daves comment as it was done, but I see that was more a workaround rather than solving this request. I'll change status back and let the PC-DMIS guys respond
