enable putting two program windows side by side so you can compare code and copy/paste between them.

If I had votes left I use one on this topic!

Great Idea.

For now you can try to use the ExamDiff tool. ExamDiff is a Visual File And Directory Comparison Tool.

Planlagt

We have an enhancement coming (hopefully in 2019 R1), that whilst not exactly what is asked for us, it should still be able to help with this problem...

Do I smell version control, Neil? :)

More along those lines, yes.

Thank you guys for the support and thank you Neil for the answer.

From the dark side....   and FREE

Run the program offline in PC DMIS. This resets the actual measured values in the program back to the nominal values.
Highlight the entire program and copy it.
Paste the program into Microsoft Word

In Word, Click the Review Tab and from the Compare Group choose Compare and then Compare.
Select the original document from the Original drop-down list. (Original name ain’t it…)
Select the edited document from the Revised Document drop-down list.
Click OK

All of the additions and deletions show up in Red.
The combined document can then be printed (if needed), reviewed and if needed filed away either electronically or hard copy.

Tested in PC DMIS 2013 MR1 and Word 2010

Won't catch things that are hidden from view in the programs but will catch everything else.

As the implementation I referred to below was Protect...I still think this idea has value, but it's not been started...so I'm going to chance the status.

Or another workaround: try the program 'Kdiff' to compare files. It's freeware.

But 2 programs opened side by side would be an awesome feature.

Now you have to switch between opened programs via the menu ' Window'. Quite cumbersome if you need to check and/or copy/paste alot between programs.

Here's what we've come up with to see differences between programs.

All grouped commands (SHOW ALL=NO) must be set to (SHOW ALL=YES) for this to work as expected?

Hi, I can start GOM Inspect and Zeiss Inspect as many times as I want in a separate window, on a different windows desktop, on a different screen.
Here in Pc-Dmis, for over 20 years, it has only been possible in one window and there is no improvement. WHY????
Anyone who does serious programming needs to be able to edit several programs at the same time. Currently it breaks me that switching between programs is only possible within a program window within Pc-Dmis at the bottom of the menu bar-> Window drop down menu.
It would be nice to be able to launch multiple Pc-Dmis as separate pockets, as Zeiss allows...

We got this request from our Malaysian Customers: Mitutoyo is promoting their feature from MCOSMOS saying they can perform dual screen operation with 1 single license. When the user turns on an offline window while online window running in the background, I couldn’t move the offline window to the other screen accordingly.

This is useful information.

There is increasing pressure for Hexagon to implement this option in Pcdmis as well.

( Just info that GOM software already did this in 2016, but maybe even earlier)

My request is that if the parallel/multi window is implemented, please be so kind to put it there at the request of the idea center users.

( Anno the CAD drag and Drop development was also proposed by me, pushed and then included in Pc-Dmis. If someone would have thanked me I would have said that I was happy to help to make the product more valuable with my idea.

In return, if Hexagon would like to give me a gift Offline license for Christmas, after all it wouldn't cost them anything...)

Thanks!
