Use biggest deviation for Position calculation

Aaron Baldauf 8 years ago in Metrology Software / PC-DMIS updated by neil kay 4 years ago 3

If I evaluate the position of a plane in XactMeasure, it should evaluate it from the worst point of the plane and not the center of the plane.

At the moment I always have to search for min/max point relative to the datum and evaluate the bigger deviation of the two.

I agree. However, I choose to use profile of any surface instead of position when it is applied on a plane. That will give me what the position of the plane should have given me (largest deviation times two).

Now, keep in mind that using the ISO calculation will give you the above (for profile), but if you are using ASME - it won't. Just a heads-up.

XactMeasure Position of a plane was revised in 2017 R2 and is calculated from hits now (worst hit deviation times two).
